I wanted to use this for a while before reviewing it. The blanket is definitely a cooling blanket, however, it only cools the skin it touches. If you wear shorts and a tank top, or a nightgown to bed, it doesn't cool the covered skin. It makes sense, it's just something to keep in mind if you aren't comfortable sleeping in the nude. That also means you can't use it over a sheet, which means you need to wash it more often, and it's says hand wash only. It doesn't really help much when it's both hot and humid, and I personally don't think it works if it's above 80°f. The other issue is that it starts looking ratty pretty quickly with snags and pulling. After just a couple months I've started folding it up at the foot of the bed and using a regular blanket to cover the bed. I'm not sure if the quick breakdown of the fabric is an issue with all cooling blankets, or just this one. I do still use it when it gets especially warm, it does the job, but I probably wouldn't buy it again.I love these blankets!! I see people complaining that they aren't cooling, but remember it's not about cooling you down; it's about not retaining heat like most blankets do. You won't wake up in a pile of sweat with these. I've bought several of them and would love to have them in other colors too. They are extremely breathable! Perfect when you need a cover but don't want to feel stuffy or overheated. They are lightweight, and I've had no issues with washing them in the washing machine and drying them in the dryer. I dry them with wool balls and it makes them super soft - I don't know why people are saying these aren't soft because they definitely are (you can't compare sherpa to bamboo blankets; perhaps that's what people are expecting). Highly recommend! These are my favorite couch, napping, and travel blankets.1.) It's NOT soft. Nope. Not at all. Think Hospital waffle blanket. From 1980. Think roughish.2.) Is it silky? If you rub your fingers over it the outer part of the pattern is a little silky-esh, but due to the weaving pattern its actually NOT silky at all in the way Americans think of SILKY, smooth, lightweight, soft. Nope.3.) YES IT'S SMALL and it shrinks in COLD water and not drying it except inside per instructions. And it is MAJOR shrinkage. Its a small blanket to begin with, one wash and its going to be 5 inches smaller all the way around. Dry it in a dryer and its going to be even smaller. It's made with Asian/small body types in mind I think, much like shoes and clothing, or someone is just being chintzy on the threads.4.) It's a headache, because who doesn't like a fresh clean blanket. But you need to wash this in cold and then throw it over a chair or line inside to dry. So in the days of covid, well, I don't like a blanket I can't wash on hot and dry on hot. Call it -High Maintence-.5.) If you are used to the old-time silk rimmed blankets or newer poly or microfiber that is all soft and light, but yet warm, this is NOTHING like that, at all. NOTHING. The texture is completely different.6.) It is NOT lightweight. Like most bamboo things it has heft and weight to it, though it is thin.7.) Unless you have tough manly man skin you do NOT want to use this without a sheet under it. It's that uncomfortable. I know in EU and Asian culture a top sheet is not the norm like it is in the USA.8.) Snags? It comes out of the package with snags, (see pic) and just gets worse, esp, if you have a dog that loves to sleep with you, (Or cat I would guess) but no flying balls of lint yet. Then again I did not DRYER dry it. I tossed it over a chair and aimed a fan at it, inside.OK all that out of the way, (And I have bamboo clothing, sheets, pillowcases and the like so I can say with all honestly this is NOTHING like the other bamboo things I own. Not nearly as "feel good or smooth"THE TRUTH about this blanket when it comes to cooling....Welp, the first night I used it, on TOP of a bamboo "cooling" sheet that I've used for a long time, we had a little cold snap. And I found myself grabbing for another blanket to put on top of it and was STILL cold. Could have used a third blanket but was too tired to move. That is ODD for me, even when the house is cool, I want to be COLD to sleep. I mean I'm the person who thinks 60 inside the house is a perfect temp. When I'm awake I might get chilly, but for whatever reason, I sleep HOT, no matter the type of bed. (Right now I sleep on a cooling mattress too...haha haha.)When you hold to the light you can see it has MANY holes in it, its near see-through, hence the cooling I GUESS??, more so than the fiber?? I don't know. I mean any blanket with holes would keep you cool, right?I am a hot sleeper, even when its cold and I did not get hot. Hmmm. Yet. The weather hasn't warmed enough for me to give it a fair shake on that, but I WILL come back an update. Hence the 3 stars, even if its just for a holy blanket. My thoughts so far are, overpriced, high maintenance, low quality, too small...but it seemed to keep me cool. I will be back to update as the weather warms as I do live in a normally hot and humid climate. But if it really does keep me cool, with all its faults, I will be the first to RAVE about it.I've included pics of it over an inside lamp and held up to an outside window so you can see what I am talking about with the weave being so open. AKA Holes.I followed the manufacturer's guidelines with minor adjustments: machine washed the blanket (on delicate/lower spin) in cold water and dried the blanked in the clothes dryer (separately) on the Air Dry (cool- no heat) setting. Honestly, this is the first night in along time, I did not wake due to over-heating and have to remove my blankets. This blanket does exactly what they say it will. My ONLY complaint is that it arrived with several loose threads and minor fraying. Not the best quality.Love this! Most favorite blanket everThis blanket is very warm however is not soft. I have to use a sheet then this blanket . However in winter I bet this is amazing and warmOff white color advertised as white (photo is against white 'bamboo bay' bamboo sheets; highly recommended sheets). It does add a bit of contrast, but false adverstising.Blanket is very very lightweight, slightly heavier than a top sheet, so in that regard it works well. Breathable and comfortable (it's very soft).5 star comfort1 star colorI was searching hard for economical blanket that can accommodate the Singapore climate. My husband is a hot sleeper while I can't sleep in a super cold air conditioned room. So, to compromise, I bought this blanket to try out and see if my husband will like it. He love this blanket and has recommended to his family.Great blanket for summer. Isn’t too hot at all. Doesn’t cover the entire queen size bed though but good in summer, or a snooze during the day etc.
