This was the heaviest weighted blanket I could find because I was looking for it for my sister who is high functioning autistic and always wanted me to lay on top of her for the weight as a kid. Now that she’s moved out, I can’t do that, so i got her this. Lemme tell you she LOVES it and it helps her sleep a lot better. Very soft and evenly weighted.I absolutely love this blanket. I can't sleep without it now. It helps so much with falling asleep and staying asleep. It honestly helps me feel comfortable and does help with my depression. It also helps you stay warm in the cold weather. I got the 20lb one, which was above what I should have got and it works perfect. I highly recommend this blanket.First, this has helped me sleep better. I fall asleep quicker, and seem to experience deeper sleep. However, I cannot be 100% certain this will translate to other customers. Scientifically, the information about weight therapy is as follows; there are several divisions of the central nervous system (CNS), and the important one to mention here is the parasympathetic nervous system. Weight therapy targets this division of the CNS. This is the part of the nervous system which stimulates the "digest and rest" state. Blood flow is directed to different organs w/ different functions, one of them being digestion. Another major effect of the parasympathetic is to dampen the fight or flight response, by indirectly decreasing adrenaline, and cortisol secretion. This can be perceived as a sense of calm, lack of anxiety, lowered heart rate, etc. Another effect of the parasympathetic that I mentioned is lowered heart rate, respiratory rate, and a reduction in the stress response. (i.e., lowered cortisol, and adrenaline, blood flow returns to the brain, etc.). This can all lead to an internal environment primed for sleep, however the level of parasympathetic stimulation by weight is unknown. Finding and experimenting with different weights is an option. Finding that blanket that works for you will ensure you are getting the benefits of weight therapy. Too much weight could be detrimental to sleep, not enough and you may not be getting those weighted therapy benefits. This blanket is about 12 lbs, I believe. I bought the appropriate weight for my weight and bed size. (My weight: 150lbs; Bed size: twin; blanket weight range 110-130lbs). It is definitely heavy enough for me, but you may require more weight than I did. My blanket is about 12x less heavy than I am. (i.e., it is about 8% the weight of my body). This percentage can be used to determine the right weight for you, but it is not inclusive. Also this is just one data point, I may be wrong in my assumptions. Take your weight and multiply that by .08-.1. This will give you the weight in pounds that should work for you. I hope this review helps you make an informed decision. Sweet dreams! :)Exactly as describedWhen it arrived, it was nicely folded inside this clear bag and was inside a cardboard box. At first the 20 lbs felt a lil heavy but after a week I got used to the weight. (I weigh over 200 lbs) I’ve had it about a month now and As soon as I get under the blanket I get tired and I’m ready for napping or to go to bed. It’s very soft, can be used in a duvet. Bag says dry clean only so I don’t like that. I have PTSD, depression, anxiety, asthma, RLS, and insomnia. It helps with all my problems. I love this blanket and would recommend to anyone! It has helped me to calm down before I sleep, calmed my legs, I don’t have trouble breathing with it. It is heavy to move while in bed (if the blanket slips out of place when I roll over) but it’s sooo worth it. If something happens to this blanket I will buy another one. I also have small dogs that like to play on it and sleep under it as well.I have what is considered a queen/full weighted blanket, and I loved it except for the fact that it wasn't big enough to suit me. When this King sized blanket was on sale, I bought it, knowing it would hang over the sides of my Queen bed and not get bunched up around me. The smaller one I have is rated 17 lbs. and this one is rated 25. I went heavier because the description said the weight is concentrated as much because the blanket is so much bigger. I use this under my comforter as a quilt, and still use the Queen sized on top of everything else. I don't know how I went all my life without one of these weighted blankets. I really like them.I wasn’t sure what I would think about a weighted blanket. I didn’t understand the concept and thought maybe it was the latest gimmick. After ordering one a month ago, I’m ready to order a 2nd one for my home and maybe a couple more as gifts for my mother & grandmother. The blanket is spectacular and I would never go back to not having one on my bed. This blanket is soft and warm and comfortable for sure. The only drawback for some might be the weight, as it is 15-20lbs. Setting the blanket aside while removing sheets is a small challenge and might be a factor for some if you don’t want to use some muscle or simply can’t because of the weight of it. I’m a 44 year old male and I don’t have any problems. I’ve had 4 small spills and some blood from a cut get one my blanket and I applied spray & wash. The small spots lifted off easily. I could not be happier with the feel of the blanket & I sleep more soundly and longer than before I bought mine. I’ve recommend one to all of my friends!! Try one out, you can return it for a refund if it doesn’t work for you. I recommend giving it about 10 days to get used to it, after that you won’t notice the weight, too much. Mine is a 15lb blanket! Get yours soon and sleep better for years to come!As someone with anxiety and depression, having a weighted blanket has helped me sleep better for a few years now.I weigh 150 pounds and got the 20 pound blanket. They say you're supposed to get one that 10% of your weight, but I went a little higher and I'm not disappointed.It's comfortable, warm, easy to clean, (as long as you keep a case on it.) comes in great colors. I've bought three of these now. One for myself, then two as gifts and myself and the two people I gifted them to love them and they say the same things about these.I purchased this blanket for my son, whom has sleep issues. The first night using it he was asleep within 15 minutes and he was excited for his special blanket! I love it, woukd definitely recommend to someone who is wondering about purchasing a weighted blanket.~ There’s a lovely feel to this weighted blanket; so soft. I purchased it for my daughter (a nurse); she couldn’t get out of bed for the first few days. She claimed the weight (and feel) of the blanket made her want to go to sleep. It’s a lovely blanket, pretty colour and makes a terrific gift ~It's my first time buying a weighted blanket and I am pleased. The cover is soft and keeps me warm during this winter season. I notice that the distribution of the beads is not equal in every box but overall it's good. The package said dry clean only but I wanted it washed before being used especially during this pandemic. I used the cold setting on our washing machine and hung it out it to dry. The blanket turned out perfectly fine.I wasn’t sure what to expect, as this is my first weighted blanket. I wasn’t disappointed when I went to bed, and actually slept. I generally don’t sleep well due to high stress and anxiety, and although this didn’t help me fall asleep, it did help in keeping me calm enough to achieve a deep sleep. Worth every penny. I will be buying more! Every bed deserves one of these!!This is a very nice, very soft and comfortable blanket. For the price you cannot beat the quality. I reached out with questions and Hug-Bug answered them all. Yes, there are glass beads in it and yes they are non toxic. This is a US company and they informed me it is manufactured in China.I bought the navy and it was true to colour. I personally recommend this over those high prices ones sold by that company that makes them in Canada. They are over $300 and these blankets are just as nice. I ended up returning it only because I bought it for my son who didn't want it.I thought of keeping it but I don't personally want one.
