Grampa's Garden 7lb Weighted Blanket in Periwinkle Blue - Made in USA for Stress Relief, Anxiety & Better Sleep

I'll start off by saying I have never written a review in my life. This blanket is so amazing, it deserved one so that others may benefit from this blanket as I have. I did a lot of research, read studies, and combed through personal stories of those that used weighted blankets. Beginning as a tool for those with autism or anxiety, weighted blankets are now showing to be beneficial for some that suffer from CFS and fibromyalgia. After being in pain all day everyday with those 2 issues (among other things from a military career) I wanted to give the blanket a shot. *look for 10% of your body weight when choosing the weight of your blanket*. This amazing blanket took my what felt like bone shattering pain down entire numbers on the pain scale. I couldn't believe the difference. I feel as though my recovery time is also reduced with the use of this blanket and I am so thankful for it. I have a heart rate monitor that also tracks my sleep habits and there is a significant increase in my sleep since the blanket's arrival. (I hardly sleep due to my symptoms which in turn makes everything worse the next day). The first night of the blanket resulted in 2:30 HOURS more of DEEP sleep. The previous night was under an hour of deep sleep. I can't believe the difference! It is very well made and travels everywhere I go. I can't say enough good things about it. If you are in pain, have trouble sleeping, have joint issues, overstimulated nerves, or deep aches- get this blanket!!! You will be forever grateful for every penny spent!!! A huge thank you to this company- you have helped me so much!!We bought this item for our son who has been recently diagnosed with a sensory and autism disorder. They have a grandpa's garden blanket at his therapy office to which he fell in love with. It helps him calm down enough to learn from both teachers! We previously ordered the 10lb weightend sensorys blanket and received the 5lb weighted sensory blanket with zoo animals which he liked but it wasn't enough weight for him. So we returned it and tried ordering the 10lb one again to which we received another 5 lb and decided to keep this one.** We just got an email from Grandpa's Garden to resolve our issue. They absolutely wonderful! Such an amazing experience with generous people, they were not only sincere but they personally felt bad. I will definitely be recommending them to all of our son's therapists and his friends that also need this type of sensory piece.Thank you Grandpa's Garden for such a wonderful product!Sensory integration problems are not just found in children, adults have them too. This blanket is large enough and heavy enough for a 5'3" overweight adult. It is soft to the touch, although the fabric does tend to pill, as flannel will do. The blanket is only available in navy blue, so you don't have to worry about kid-themed fabrics clashing with your decor.The description says that it is "washable". What the care instructions actually say is that it is hand wash, drip dry only. The blanket is very heavy dry, I can't imagine trying to heft it when it is soaking wet. So, I'd say spot cleaning is more realistic. I'm taking a star away because in my mind, washable means washing machine and dryer.I chose the large size so that I could use it for sleeping at night. It works wonderfully for that. If you just want one for covering your lap or your shoulders while you are sitting, you may want to go for a smaller size...I received this blanket 5 days ago. For me, it's perfect. It's definitely long enough (I'm 5'3") and wide enough to fit on our double bed but not bother my husband. The weight is just right - 15 lbs. I love the material and color - blue batik fish on one side and blue flannel on the other. It feels wonderful. Stitching seems very secure.The only suggestion I might have is that at least one edge have an extra thick, very durable edge to it. There's no problem now, but as the blanket is heavy I think a double reinforced edge might be good to help against the eventual wear of pulling on the blanket. Love it and now cant sleep without itThis was an excellent purchase for my autistic little brother, and since I could not afford a $100+ blanket, this was my best bet. The beads are not sewn into small pockets to keep them from moving all over the blanket, but that's the only downside. If you choose any other blanket option besides the one I chose (navy blue) then the price skyrockets up, so be aware. I am satisfied with my purchase.This was sent to my son's friend as a gift after she had some surgery and this was specifically requested by her. It helped her feel better but I think she wished it was a little bit longer since she is an adult. Don't get me wrong, it did the job and she still likes to use it.
